Overview of the Challenge
Legacy Solutions and The Limited Stores were introduced by the Director of Architecture and Planning who believed the Columbus, Ohio national retailer would benefit from Legacy’s consulting expertise. During initial discussions with The Limited Storesexecutives, Legacy Solutions learned that The Limited Stores division had been purchased by an investment group and needed to create independent relationships with telecommunications service providers currently managed by its parent holding company, Limited Brands Inc. (LBI). The ultimate goal was to improve service levels and cost position.
Legacy’s sourcing goals included A) the removal of exclusivity and onerous commitment structures inherent in the existing telecom contracts, B) the improvement of their existing telecom contract cost positions, C) Improvement of their existing service levels, and D) streamlining of multiple contracts and commitments to facilitate ease of management.
The investment group wanted to see cost efficiencies immediately in all aspects of the business. Given the sense of urgency and limited amount of resources The Limited Stores had in IT staff, Legacy Solutions quickly became an extension of the technology team.
Applying Legacy Solutions’ Expertise, Perspective, Leverage and Process
Once stakeholder interviews were completed, Legacy Solutions moved forward with a detailed analysis of the current telecom situation and developed a comprehensive strategy to ensure the successful delivery of the desired outcome. Legacy Solutions moved quickly and conducted a competitive bid for voice and data services, in which global and regional service providers were invited to respond.
By leveraging Legacy Solutions’ knowledge of emerging technologies and their carrier relationships , they were able to deliver savings to The Limited Stores beyond the budgeted forecast. The business applications and their unique solutions executed included:
